On October 18, before the public there came leaders and members of the Guangzhou Real Estate Industry Association whose president was taken by entrepreneur for the first time and the fifth council of Guangzhou Real Estate Academy. At the sixth director meeting of the fourth session and fifth member conference of Guangzhou Real Estate Industry Association and Guangzhou Real Estate Academy held on the day, Professor Xu Jiayin, the chairman of board of directors of Evergrande Real Estate Group Limited, was elected as the fifth chairman of the association. This is the first time since the foundation of the association in 1985 that the person responsible for this organization is taken by entrepreneur, which signifies that the development of the industry association of our city has entered a new stage.
It is reported that at present there are 93 industry associations of city level in our city and 114,394 members which accounts for 25% of the sum of economic organizations in the whole city. In order to specify the orientation of the industry association and chamber of commerce in the socialist market economy system, the municipal government issues Opinion on Promotion of the Reform and Development of Industry Association and Chamber of Commerce in accordance with relevant resolutions of the Provincial Party committee and provincial government and relevant regulations of provincial National People's Congress. The principal of the reform is to further perfect the function of the industry association and chamber of commerce in terms of coordinating the main body of the market, standardizing the economic order of the market, enhancing the efficiency of the market to deploy sources etc in the light of the marketization principle. The Opinion also stipulates that staff members of the present government office shall not hold temporary posts in industry association or chamber of commerce. The council and member conference of the real estate association elect new leaders in the light of “voluntary initiation and self-conducted chairman election, funds collection, personnel employment and affair disposal” and in accordance with the requirements of Opinion. By means of procedures such as anonymous vote and nomination, comprehensive evaluation, election on member conference etc, Xu Jiayin is elected as the new chairman and Xu Guobi remains as the secretary-general. According to relevant person in charge of the real estate association, after this new term election, quite a few of industry personage become leaders of the association, which explores a new way for the construction of the popularization and autonomy of existing industry association and chamber of commerce.

It is reported that, Xu Jiayin, the newly-elected real estate association president, concurrently hold the posts as the deputy president of China real estate association, deputy president of China enterprise federation and was granted the award of “national model worker” and “ten national philanthropists”. At the conference yesterday, Xu Jiayin expressed that he felt great pressure as well as honour as the first entrepreneur president of the municipal real estate association. To become a real corporation popular among the people, there is still a long way for the municipal real estate association to further. For this purpose, he presents that he will make great efforts to “build one family, erect two bridges and found three stations” for members of the real estate industry association. To form a harmonious, healthy, standard and self-disciplined large family, two communicating bridges must be built between members and government and between enterprises and consumers. In addition, he hopes that the real estate association can improve the exchange of the local developers in Guangzhou with developers of other parts of the country and even overseas, furthermore serves as a comprehensive platform for information exchanges, member communication and interflow between home and abroad. On this basis, the association shall constantly improve industry self-discipline, standardize industry operation, improve industry quality and guarantee swift and healthy development.
